Leading Business and Government Expert Jim Madaffer Joins Keenan Advisory Board

Addition Further Strengthens Keenan Resources for Monitoring and Responding to Key Industry Trends and Best Practices

TORRANCE, Calif. – December 9, 2009 – Keenan & Associates, the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California, has announced the addition of Jim Madaffer to the company’s Advisory Board. The Keenan Advisory Board, initiated in 2005, includes a group of distinguished leaders in the health care field who provide deep resources to assist the company in monitoring and responding to key industry trends and best practice innovations.

Madaffer resides in San Diego and is president of Madaffer Enterprises, a consulting firm specializing in government and corporate relations, technology, transportation, health, public safety, economic stimulus, insurance and governmental efficiency/reform.

“Keenan has a track record of innovation in the insurance field. In this day and age of shrinking government coffers, it makes sense that Keenan takes their many years of experience in the education field and apply that expertise to municipalities” said Madaffer. “I look forward to working with them in the municipality marketplace.” he said.

“We are very pleased to have Mr. Madaffer on our Advisory Board,” said Henry Loubet, Keenan’s Senior Vice President and Strategy Officer. “His blend of experience in both private enterprise and local government provides an important perspective that will assist us in continuing to offer the most effective programs possible for our clients.”

Madaffer is immediate past president of the Sacramento-based League of California Cities. He has served on the League’s Board of Directors since 2001, previously served as Second Vice President and First Vice President. During his tenure with the League, Madaffer led passage of statewide Proposition 99 giving local government greater control of redevelopment; represented California cities before federal officials in Washington, D.C., on border, homeland security and federal stimulus funding; and worked closely with Governor Schwarzenegger and California’s Senate and Assembly leadership on budget, environmental and transportation issues.

Madaffer was elected to the San Diego City Council for two terms. While serving on the council from 2000-2008, he held a number of leadership positions including chair of the Rules, Land Use & Housing, Public Safety & Neighborhood Services and Natural Resources & Culture committees

Madaffer is a techno-savvy entrepreneur having started many successful businesses. In 1995, he founded the Mission Times Courier, a 25,000-circulation community newspaper. Additionally, he owns and operates an Internet hosting and domain name registration company as well as several other technology-oriented businesses.

The purpose of the Keenan Advisory Board is to help the company embrace key industry challenges and bring innovative products to market swiftly. It consists of a number of accomplished California and national thought leaders, who provide overall direction on the latest developments in health care delivery, information technology, benefit design and medical economics.
